While I was reading my pre-assessment essay, I found that there are errors in which I wrote the same ideas in two different places. And it is really not a good essay supposed to be, because writing the same thing in two different paragraphs not only weaken the structure of the essay but also confuse my readers. So in order to fix this in my post-assessment essay, I summarized the paragraphs and put them as on paragraph. And I found that it would be much smoother when I read the essay again. In addition, there are also some diction problems. Too much repetitive words made the essay not attractive to the readers; so I fixed the mistakes by changing up some words.

I have learned how to become a better writer along the semester. My essays are used to be boring before due to my choice of dictions and the structure of the essay. As an English learner, I am not confident finding myself in the good writer category; so I was not a fan of writing at all. However, I have found myself enjoying writing through this semester. When I was writing the growth process essay, I do not need be frustrated about the structure of my essay; so I just pull up whenever it comes to my mind. After that assignment, I found out that writing an essay was not that frustrated at all. So I keep the same mood when I was doing my research paper. This was the first time that I actually pick the articles that I used for my paper; in high school, the teacher usually gave us a packet of articles and asked us to pick the sources from there. During the writing process of the paper, I have learned how to do the research on my own and most importantly, how to cite the works. I think that being able to accomplish those tasks alone had made me an independent writer, and certainly improved my writing skills over all.

The topic that I picked for my research paper has always be the thing that I wanted to take a look at but could not. So the research paper gave me an opportunity to know about the issues of the topic. I know there are a lot of controversies about gender roles and sexualities, so I think that there must be a lot to write about. The topic has brought me the answers about why men and women are changing their roles; and most importantly, how the world viewed these changes. Moreover, I usually search the journals by their title, and then I look through the abstract. But sometimes the abstract does not relate everything of the journal, so you ended up reading the whole journal. It is annoying sometimes when you found out that the journal does not correspond to your topic after you spend half hour reading it. Nevertheless, I have to say that writing this paper has improved my understanding and thinking about scholar journals, books, and other sources.
